Volunteering with the Cambridge Churches Homeless Project - Winter 2024/25

The online form for registration IS NOW AVAILABLE HERE!

Thank you for being interested in volunteering to help at Crossways - this winter's 24/7 accommodation to help prevent rough sleeping in Cambridge.

Crossways is run by the local charity It Takes a City (ITAC), in partnership with the Cambridge Churches Homeless Project (CCHP), Cambridge City Council and supported by other organisations in the city. Throughout the winter (1st Nov 2024 to 31st March 2025) we will provide 20 en-suite rooms to individuals who would otherwise be forced to sleep rough, whilst working with them to provide support and find longer term accommodation.

Volunteers play key roles in the provision of food and creating a safe, welcoming community for residents.

To register to volunteer please fill in the form; it should only take 5 to 10 minutes - thank you! Form link below:

We are recruiting volunteers for a range of roles (Lead Cooks, Mealtime Assistants, Food Delivery Drivers, Early Evening Hosts, Weekday Housekeeping Assistants and Weekend Daytime Hosts). Descriptions of the volunteer roles available are found in section 2 of the form. All that’s required is a friendly enthusiasm, a little time and a willingness to help!

You are warmly invited to come, meet us and volunteer to help this winter.

We ask first-time volunteers, new to Crossways, to attend a single training evening (approx. one hour duration) - dates are below and sign-up is on the registration form:

  • Thursday 17th October 2024 from 7.30 pm at St Barnabas Church, CB1 2BD

  • Tuesday 22nd October 2024 from 6.30 pm at The C3 Church, CB1 3HR

  • Wednesday 30th October 2024 from 7.30 pm at Beth Shalom Synagogue, CB5 8DW
