Listening to and raising up forgotten voices

“Do you want to know what it feels like to be homeless? It feels like you have no right to ask.”

One of the great injustices of homelessness is that people are very often marginalised, othered and silenced.

Many of our friends in the homeless community tell us that they feel “invisible” or “like an animal” spending time on the streets.

Our Christian faith teaches us that every person is made in the image of God, and that individuals and their stories are precious to God.

In all we do, we seek to raise up and listen to the voices of people who have so often been silenced and shunned.

Listening to voices of people who know what it’s like to be homeless is an integral part of our volunteer training course; we invite people with experience of homelessness to speak at churches and other events; and we are deeply invested in the Cambridge Co-Production group, a space where homelessness service users and service providers come together to share experiences and insights.
